NEW YORK: The Pageant
Committee of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade, Inc.
wishes to inform all young ladies among the ages of 18 –
25 that we are still recruiting candidates for the Cultural
Pageant that will be held on Saturday, April 21, 2007.
Angel M. Ortiz, Pageant Director, pointed out that this
year there will be a lot of surprises & prizes for the
Queen and her Court. He also mentioned that these young
ladies have to comply with the rules and regulations of
the Pageant.
Mrs. Madelyn Lugo, Chairperson, indicated that this year
we are celebrating the 50th. Anniversary of Puerto Rican
Parades in New York City therefore, it is very important
that the Queen fulfills cultural and beauty qualifications
so that, she may be a sample of pride to all Puerto Ricans.
Mrs. Lugo also mentioned that among some of the prizes that
the Queen will win there will be a round-trip ticket to
Puerto Rico where she will represent the Puerto Rican woman
in the United States. She will also ride through the Parade
on Fifth Avenue in New York City scheduled for Sunday, June
10, 2007 aboard a majestic float with her Court.
