YORK: TThe Pageant Committee of the National Puerto
Rican Day Parade, Inc. announces they are searching for young
ladies within the age range of 18 – 25 as candidates for
the 2008 Pageant to be held in May of 2008.
There will be surprises & prizes for the Queen and her Court.
All those interested in participating in the competition for
title of Queen of the Puerto Rican Day Parade, must comply with
the rules and regulations of the Pageant.
Mrs. Madelyn Lugo, Chairperson, indicated that we are celebrating
our 13th. anniversary of the National Puerto Rican Day Parade.
Therefore, it is very important for the Queen to understand
the importance of her role as well as fulfill cultural and other
qualifications as outlined by the pageant committee. In addition,
the Queen will serve as a role model and representative to the
Puerto Rican community.
Mrs. Lugo also mentioned that among some of the prizes the Queen
will receive a round-trip ticket to Puerto Rico to represent
the Puerto Rican woman in the United States. Furthermore, the
Queen will be representing the Puerto Rican woman at numerous
events and she will ride through the Parade on Fifth Avenue
in New York City scheduled for Sunday, June 8, 2008 aboard a
majestic float with her Court.
